Hi friends! Welcome back.
I just went to Chamonix for a ski trip and New Year’s Eve. Great memories—so here’s the vlog! 🤳🏻
28.12.2024 – Day 1
We stayed at a chalet near Chamonix city center, with a garden and mountain view—super cute!
Important knowledge 📣: Chamonix is both a town and a valley at the base of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps. There are multiple villages and ski areas, such as these three:
- Chamonix city center (Brévent ski area)
- Argentière (Grands Montets ski area)
- Le Tour (Balme ski area)
These are covered under the Chamonix Le Pass ski pass. However, Les Houches, which is right next to Chamonix city center and also part of the Chamonix valley, is an independent resort with its own pass (or get Mont Blanc Unlimited).
So don’t be like me and show up at Les Houches by mistake on the first day! After a bus ride back to the city center and a quick lunch, we were finally ready to hit the Brévent area.
Google Maps said it’s a 10-minute walk. It was indeed—but uphill. Again, learned that the hard way. If you’re walking, head to the Le Savoy area and take the lift up from there. 🎿
Since we only had half a day left, I was mostly getting my muscle memory back and appreciating the view. I tried to take some videos while skiing, but they were horrible. Let’s wait for tomorrow.
Then, we headed back to the bus stop again. I really prefer ski-in, ski-out resorts, but the view was amazing, so no complaints… for now. We ended the day back at the chalet with some drinks. 🍸Very cozy, very nice.
29.12.2024 – Day 2
We headed straight to Brévent today, but it was still a bit of a journey because we realized the bus doesn’t follow Google Maps schedules during peak season. Highly recommend downloading the Chamonix app for real-time bus updates. 🚌
With more time on the slopes, it was such a fun day! After some practice, I was also better at skiing and taking videos today. Here’s a clip of me on the slopes! (Reminder: this is my 4th year skiing.)
We had lunch on the mountain. It was beautiful outside but super crowded, so we settled for an indoor table. After skiing, we enjoyed some mulled wine for après-ski—delicious. 🍷
Lastly, I just want to say—the best thing on a ski trip is a massage gun. Period.
30.12.2024 – Day 3
Today, we switched to taking the train because we were done with buses. It’s free if you get a guest card from your hotel or the tourism office, and the views are amazing. We went to Argentière, and the cable car is a 10-minute walk from the station. 🚉
It’s not my first time here—I actually stayed in Argentière before. Back then, I used to complain about walking 10 minutes in ski boots. Now, I have to walk 10 minutes to the station, take a train, and walk another 10 minutes. How ungrateful I was! I’m now choosing gratitude in the hard places.
Anyway, Grands Montets is a much bigger area! It’s in my top two in Chamonix, along with Le Tour, which I didn’t get to revisit this time. Highly recommend.
Grands Montets has a long slope that goes all the way down to the valley—I really enjoyed it! ⛷️
Lunch was at a canteen-style restaurant. I got pork ribs with pasta for €25, which I thought was decent. As for David… €30 salad because it’s by weight.
Afterward, we took the train back again. It was 3 p.m., way ahead of the peak, but we almost couldn’t get in. Well… what’s new? Again, we choose gratitude in the hard places. 🧘♂️
We joined Jen and Astrid back at the chalet. They had gone snowshoeing and were building a snow dog in the garden.
Dinner time~ some French wine and, of course, cheese fondue.
31.12.2024 – Day 4
Last day of the year!
We took it easy, got up late, had a burger lunch in the city center, and headed to Brévent. This time, we took the cable car to explore the connected Flégère area. It feels like a more challenging area with longer and steeper slopes.
It was really busy today, but luckily, the slope was quite wide, so I could still take my slow, big turns. By the end, my thighs were absolutely dead. 😵
When I’m on ski trips, I always love the view at the end of the day—everyone skiing down the mountain in colorful jackets makes the slope look like a rainbow.
What was really special today was seeing how people actually ski into the sky. Here’s how it works: (please watch the video). So beautiful! 🪂
We had a nice homemade dinner because eating out is expensive and everything was fully booked. But it turned out really good! After that, we headed out for the countdown in the city, which was full of vibes. It was funny—people started counting down in different languages at different times! 🎇
01.01.2025 – Day 5
What do you want to do on the first day of 2025—and the last day of the trip?
I chose to relax and take videos of this peaceful town. 📸
David? He chose to fly into 2025. Inspired by last night’s paragliders, he booked a session and recorded it with my camera. Watch until the end for the clips!
We ended the trip with dinner and a cabaret show at La Folie Douce Hotel. It really exceeded my expectations—€52 for a three-course meal and this performance? Absolutely recommend.

That’s it, guys! Let me know if you have any questions.
Au revoir and Happy New Year! 🥳
